Educational camps are not rare phenomena in our educational complex. However, are they necessary, do they not interfere with the agenda provided by the curriculum?
Our educational complex organizes a camp every summer and winter, where every teacher can become a squad leader of a large group. Each teacher prepares a camp agenda for the months of January and June, what trips will be organized, what projects will be done, what kind of squad will be in general. And the students only have to choose and enjoy the quick and interesting camp.
Both camps are interesting in their own way; In winter, we are able to go to Lernanist or high areas to ride sleds, to spend time, we are able to go to ice fields. In winter, as well as in summer, three-day trips to different parts of Armenia are organized. I prefer the winter military sports camp, because it shows who is fearless and who can withstand the cold, practice extra and feel like a real hero and soldier. It is a very good way to discover yourself. More trips are organized in the summer. To Lori, Tavush, Dilijan, Arates, Gyumri, Vanadzor to many, many interesting places. As well as day trips to galleries, museums, factories, places of pilgrimage, churches, or even downtown to wander around, learn about engineering.
We see that camping is a part of our daily life with various pleasures.
But does it not hinder us? Of course not, it only helps us, because it is better to travel through one’s own country, to get to know the history and culture more closely, than to stay at school and listen to the boring theory about the same historical and cultural monument. It also has other advantages, of which I prefer the friendly environment the most. It is so interesting, fun and good that you travel with your close friends and discover your country in your own way. Thanks to the camps, the school is able to bring together on one platform people of different ages, who have fun together, waste time, and then, if it turns out, become good and close friends. During the camps, everyone is guided by his squad, and what is written in the agenda must be implemented. When I was in the January camp, in the physics squad, we did interesting experiments every day, played card games, competitive intellectual games and had a good time.
And I just don’t understand those people who avoided or ran away from the camps, because such an event is organized once or twice during the year, which is not enough to better identify the students and implement entertaining projects.
