Bullying
I’ve never understood bullying. Why do people have to make the life of another person so miserable? Why do they think they have the right to punch and kick someone they think is weaker than them. I was bullied when I was a child. It was a living hell. I was really afraid to go to school, for many, many years. I knew I was not safe during break times. It was always a group of bullies that got me in the corridors, or on the playing fields. They made me hate school. I know they also changed me for life. I have no confidence now. I’m 32 years old but I’m afraid to speak up for myself. The school bullies took away my belief in myself. They didn’t know that they would scar me for life. The physical scars have gone but not the emotional ones.
After listening and reading the following short piece, I formed a larger picture of bullying. The author told that he was afraid to go to school because he knew that he would be bullied during recess. He tried to explain that the elders, mostly the youth, aim to mock or insult the younger ones, because they think that the latter is weaker and defenseless. I considered the word where the author said: The physical scars are gone, but not the emotional ones. This was really very important.
Politicians
I often ask myself what politics is. When I turn on the television and see politicians in action, I think it looks like a circus. A lot of the politicians I see are like comedians. They lie, they steal money and get involved in all kinds of scandals. Politics should be about serving the people. This cannot happen when most of the people think most politicians can’t do their job properly. I’ve always found it strange that there are usually only two kinds of politics in most countries. You vote for the Democrats or Republicans, the left or the right. Some countries have a middle, but that’s still not a lot to vote for. I also think it’s strange that most politicians do not focus on what the people want. People want better health and education, not war.
This one was more exciting. The author, as well as many people, simply do not want to get involved in this “sphere”, because they know that they will only do bad things. The author clarified that he wonders why the political field will laugh like a circus. Before the elections, politicians inspire people with various emotions, they tell that their ultimate goal is to “put the country on its feet”, but when a person votes for either the Right and the Left, or the Republicans and Democrats, all of a sudden all the promises and plans disappear. This line touched me the most. People want better health and education, not war.
