  1. Last Tuesday my computer broke while I was trying to finish an important piece of work.
  2. So I called a friend who knows about computers, and he came over straightaway.
  3. He had a look at it, but he couldn’t fix it.
  4. He took my keys so he could come back to fix it the next day while I was at work.
  5. The next morning, when I was trying to leave for work, I discovered that he had locked my front door from the outside, and I couldn’t get out of the flat.
  6. My parents traveled abroad, and no one else I know didn’t have a spare key.
  7. I tried to call my friend, but he left his phone in my flat. It was ringing right next to me.
  8. I have had to wait for him to arrive, and so I was very late for work.
