Every day we all make different decisions in different situations. For example, when waking up we think about what should or can be done and after long and thin thoughts and internal discussions we decide to do something. Although, making decisions is not an easy task. First of all, there are several important points to consider when making a decision.

  1. Is the proposed option more affordable?
  2. Is that helpful?
  3. What result will one have in the end?
  4. What exactly is it done for?
  5. What is the overarching goal?
  6. Are there no other options?

I think about all these points before making a decision. But why? Because there are cases when decisions are made subconsciously or spontaneously, without considering the consequences and results, which may not always be in our favor. In general, I think that we can understand “decision” as a discussion of the proposed options for a certain problem and the choice of the most affordable among them, and at the end, a conclusion. An academic explanation of this concept is as follows: a conclusion or resolution reached after consideration.

Three strategies for better decision making | Practice Business

Well, at least we understood enough about decisions, how are they made, what factors influence decision-making? I must say in advance that there are many of them, but I would like to focus on a few, in my own examples. The number one factor for me is my mood. If during the day I was calm, not tense, stable logician and thinker, then my decisions were weighty, thoughtful, logical and appropriate. However, if I was upset, sad, worried, in a hurry or anxious, then my decisions were unstable, thoughtless.

The second factor is situation, which can be correlated with mood in some cases. If I am in a situation that requires an immediate response, my decision will not allow itself to wait, but if I am in a situation where everything is going on quietly and I myself have the opportunity to consider the dilemma before me, to discuss the choice, to consult with myself, then my decision will be hard, fixed, relevant to the situation and logical, of course.

The third factor is the environment. To be honest, similar cases happen to me very rarely. It’s about how the environment affects our decisions. Although, even if the majority of my friends are supporters of one idea, but I know that the second one is more correct, then I will definitely stand on the side of the minority.

Decision-Making Skills – A Major Skill in Defining Leadership

Thus, there are many factors that affect a person’s decision-making. Among them are mood, environment and friends, situation, effectiveness and necessity of decision-making, etc. I tried to present in detail how I make decisions. And as a piece of advice, I would like to say that before each decision, be it speaking or acting, one should think, because each step can strengthen what has been cherished for years, or destroy it forever.
